Homemade and Homegrown Tortillas Workshop; Feb 2, 2019
Want to learn how to make tortillas from vibrant homegrown whole kernel heirloom corn? Traditional indigenous food preparation is an essential component in our quest for food and seed sovereignty, for we must remember and practice these time-honored culinary techniques as a part of stewarding our sacred seeds.
This is a Make and Take workshop, where you will go home with 2 dozen homemade tortillas.
Held in our community kitchen at Sierra Seeds in North San Juan CA, we will work together in a hands-on setting to prepare the corn nixtamal, grind the masa, make the tortillas and cook them on a comal.
Join Rowen White and her daughter Maizie in a dynamic seed to table workshop, where in addition to making tasty nourishing indigenous foods, we connect with other like-minded people, have fun and interesting conversations, and all walk away feeling nourished and refreshed!
